Gynaecomastia is an enlargement of the breast, nipple/chest in males like female breasts, causing discomfort/awkwardness to patients, sometimes associated with pain. One or both breasts can be affected in males of all ages, including adolescents, and older adults.
The procedure is not at all painful. In fact, there is easy recovery after the surgery. Many patients experience the pain after a heavy chest workout in the gym.

There are no major complications of gynecomastia as such. However, it can cause psychological or emotional problems due to personal appearance.
If you have excessive fat tissues, the surgery is often combined with liposuction. Liposuction can remove a significant amount of fat tissues to achieve flatter and firmer breasts after the surgery.
