WHAT IS GYNAECOMASTIA?

Gynaecomastia is an enlargement of the breast, nipple/chest in males like female breasts, causing discomfort/awkwardness to patients, sometimes associated with pain. One or both breasts can be affected in males of all ages, including adolescents, and older adults.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF GYNAECOMASTIA?

  • Medications – Certain medications such as heart medicine, steroids, and chemotherapy drugs that are used to treat stomach ulcers, depression, high blood pressure, and prostate cancer can also enlarge breast tissues.
  • Recreational drugs and alcohol – Alcohol abuse, Anabolic steroids, and marijuana can also lead to gynaecomastia.
