FROZEN SHOULDER

It is a painful condition with restricted shoulder movement. It occurs when strong connective tissue surrounding the shoulder becomes thick, stiff, and inflamed. Frozen shoulder is a common condition seen in women aged between 40-60 years approximately.

CAUSES

  • Recent shoulder injury
  • Diabetes
  • Stroke
  • Hypertension

INITIAL TREATMENT

  • NSAID’s physiotherapy
  • TENS – Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation

SURGICAL TREATMENT  -

Shoulder Arthroscopy

TENNIS ELBOW

It is a painful condition that occurs when the exterior tendon in your elbow’s forearm is overloaded by repetitive motions of wrists and arms.

SYMPTOMS

  • Burning or pain while arm twisting
  • Stiffness and swollen elbow
  • Weakened grip
  • Severe pain in wrist dorsiflexion

DIAGNOSIS

  • X-rays
  • MRI
  • CT Scan
  • Electromyography

SURGICAL TREATMENT

Minimally Invasive Arthroscopic Release of common extensor origin

POPLITEAL CYSTS

Most commonly known as ‘Baker’s Cyst’. Usually, fluid-filled lump forms on the back of your knee. The condition occurs due to arthritis, direct damage to the knee, inflammation Gout.

SYMPTOMS

  • Pain & Stiffness in the knee
  • Limited range of motion
  • Ability to bend the knee
  • Swelling of knee

DIAGNOSIS

  • X-ray
  • MRI
  • Ultrasound

SURGICAL TREATMENT

Cyst Draining – To drain the fluid out of the cyst.

Arthroscopic Knee Surgery – An arthroscope is inserted through a small incision in your knee that corrects the knee damage.

Knee Osteotomy – In it, the surgeon cuts part of the bone to correct the damage to the knee.

SHOULDER DISLOCATION

It means the ball & socket bones of the shoulder are separated with the ball of the humerus out of the position. Generally, extreme pain, swelling, muscle spasm, immobility of the arm, and shoulder visibility out of place are the symptoms of shoulder dislocation.

DIAGNOSIS

X-rays & CT Scan

TREATMENT

Closed Reduction – The surgeon will carefully place the arm bone back into the shoulder socket with correct alignment.

ARTHROSCOPY

It is a procedure to diagnose and treat the joint structural problem that causes pain and instability. It is indicated in cases such as Knee pain, ACL Tear, Shoulder Dislocation, Frozen Shoulder, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Ganglion Cyst, and Arthritis. Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that benefits the patient for faster recovery, less pain, and minimal blood loss and scarring.

COLLES FRACTURE

It usually occurs after a fall or an outstretched hand. This fracture happens about an inch away from the dorsal end of your radius and causes the broken bone to tilt upwards. Severe trauma or osteoporosis are the significant causes.

SYMPTOMS

  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Decreased range of motion
  • Fork deformity of the wrist

TREATMENT

Conservative -

Move the broken bone back to their natural position and use plaster, brace, or splint to hold them in place.

Surgical –

Move the broken bones to the correct position and keep them in place by using metal pins, screws, plates, or an external fixator.

TRIGGER FINGER RELEASE

It is a condition affecting tendons that flex the fingers and thumb resulting in sensation of locking when patient bend and straighten digits.

CAUSE – commonly in Rheumatoid Arthritis

SURGERY -  Surgery is usually performed through either a small open incision in the palm or with the tip of needle. The A1 pulley is divided or released so that flexor tendon can glide freely. Percutaneous release of trigger finger using a needle. In high-risk patients, steroid injections can be given.
